Here are stories, poetry and prose by brave survivors of rape by husbands and boyfriends.
If you put your mouse over each woman's name in the left column, you'll see a drop-down that specifies whether the story is about marital or other relationship rape, as this makes it easier for vistors to decide what they want to read.
Please read the following before submitting your story: Please fill out all the fields in the form except email, which is optional. < You don't have to share your email address unless you want me to contact you. PLEASE be sure it's a safe email that your abuser has no access to.
Use any name you like - full names aren't a good idea online.
If the perpetrator of your assault was not convicted of the crime/s against you, that person's full name cannot legally appear on this site. First name or a psuedonym will do
Please specify in the box provided whether you want the story to appear on this site. If you are just sharing it with me privately I will not make it available to anybody else. If you do want it put on the site but you change your mind later, you can email me at any time to remove it. Your story remains your property on loan to me :)
You may want to type your story into a word document before cutting and pasting it into the form so that you can go back and edit anything you want to rethink first.
Sharing your story isn't an English test, but you'll be doing me a huge favour if you spell-check and punctuate. Begin sentences with caps and end them with full stops. Try to have paragraphs instead of a big chunk of text - it makes easier reading
Important: You may find that writing your story is cathartic and rewarding - but some women do feel raw afterwards. That's quite normal -do give yourself a reward, and get support if you need it - either from a rape counsellor (go here), a good friend and/or Pandora's Aquarium, which is open 24/7 and you'll be very welcome.
Your story or poem can be as short or as long as you like
You will not be judged by me on anything you write - be as no holds-barred as you feel comfortable with, and swear your head off if you feel like it. Thank you for your courage |
