Brothers arrested for selling date rape drug kits over the Internet
Become educated about date rape drugs and talk to your friends about them. At parties or bars, do accept drinks from someone you don't trust, or that you have not seen poured from a common source. Stay with your friends and keep a close watch on each other. If you suspect that you have been drugged, seek medical attention immediately. These drugs are very dangerous and can cause death.
If you happen to come across an internet site that offers the sale of GBH, Rophnol, or other date rape drugs, report it to your local police authority, or to the FBI.
Get angry. Show this article to as many people as possible. Make sure everyone is aware this kind of heinous behavior goes on. And always believe a survivor when they tell you that they have been assaulted.
My mother told me once about a boy who came to her, when she was living on a military base, and told her that his Scout leader had been molesting him. She told her husband, and he told her not to tell anyone, because he thought the boy's father would kill the Scout leader. She told me that she always regretted not telling anyone - and that she felt like she had let the boy down.
If someone comes to you and tells you that they are being molested, tell an authority. It may seem to be something that will cause problems, but it is the right thing to do, and will ultimately be the best thing for the victim.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of exposure to sexually explicit and violent materials on male viewers' attitudes towards sexual assault. Prior research has shown that exposure to violent or sexually violent video material causes greater empathy toward rapists and less sympathy for rape victims. In the present study, it was predicted that subjects exposed to violence coupled with sexual explicitness would become desensitized to acts of sexual assault, specifically acquaintance rape, and become less empathetic toward the victim and more empathetic toward the perpetrator. Presence of violence and presence of explicit sexuality in film segments involving interactions between men and women were combined factorially. Each of four groups of male college students was exposed to a fifteen-minute film clip containing material that was either violent, sexually explicit, violent and sexually explicit, or nonviolent and nonsexual. All subjects then read a short vignette describing an ambiguous date rape scenario. Subjects then completed the Rape Empathy Scale and a questionnaire that evaluated the subjects' attitudes (empathy, sympathy) toward the characters depicted in the vignettes. Results indicated that those subjects exposed to violent material were more empathetic toward the male in the date rape vignette and more likely to commit an act similar to the one in the vignette than subjects in the nonviolent conditions. Exposure to violence and explicit sexuality also led to decreased scores on the RES. These results suggest that individuals exposed to violent media develop a callousness to acts of date rape which might either increase their chances of allowing such acts to occur or of committing such acts.

Most of the women who have been raped and murdered were workers in the machiadoras, largely American-owned factories, including those owned by General Motors, Stepan Chemical and Zenith, that have proliferated along the border opposite El Paso, Texas. A 1991 study of this area by the Work Environment Program of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell concluded that "the working conditions identified in this study are reminiscent of the nineteenth century sweatshops of the U.S. industrial town." They found "clear evidence that maquiladora workers are suffering from musculoskeletal disorders related to working conditions, including rapid pace of work, poor workplace design and other ergonomic hazards. Acute health effects compatible with chemical exposures were also identified, indicating the potential for the future development of chronic diseases in the workforce."
The reason the women of Juarez are targets is because these American factories do not provide them with any kind of transport to and from their shanty towns - so the women are walking through the desert for hours late at night to get home. Write to these companies and tell them that you are unwilling to buy their products if they continue to treat their workers in this fashion.
